What is an accessibility engineer?

Accessibility Engineers are professionals who ensure that websites, applications, and digital products are usable by people with disabilities. They design, test, and implement solutions that comply with accessibility standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and legal requirements like the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Working remotely, they collaborate with designers, developers, and project managers to identify barriers and recommend improvements. Their goal is to create inclusive digital experiences for all users.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an accessibility engineer remote?

To thrive as an Accessibility Engineer (Remote), you need expertise in web accessibility standards (such as WCAG), front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and familiarity with assistive technologies, often supported by a related degree or certifications like IAAP CPACC. Proficiency with accessibility testing tools (like Axe, WAVE, or JAWS), code repositories, and issue tracking systems is commonly required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication are vital soft skills for collaborating with distributed teams and advocating for accessible solutions. These skills are crucial for ensuring digital products are usable by everyone, meeting legal requirements, and promoting inclusivity.

What are some common challenges faced by accessibility engineers working remotely, and how can they be addressed?

Accessibility Engineers working remotely often face challenges such as ensuring effective communication with cross-functional teams and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of accessibility standards. Collaborating virtually may require proactive outreach to designers, developers, and QA teams to review and remediate accessibility issues. Utilizing collaborative tools, scheduling regular check-ins, and participating in online accessibility communities can help overcome these challenges and ensure that products meet accessibility requirements.

Senior Software Engineer, React | Endpoint State and Control

NinjaOne

Baltimore, MD โ€ข On-site, Remote

Full-time

Job description

About the Role

NinjaOne is investing in a new Endpoint State and Control team, and we're looking for a Senior Software Engineer, React to help build it from the ground up. This is a true greenfield opportunity โ€” you won't be inheriting years of legacy patterns or untangling technical debt, you'll be in the room helping define the architecture, conventions, and component patterns that the rest of the team will build on. If you want to make foundational decisions rather than work within someone else's, and you want your fingerprints on a product from its earliest lines of code, this is that role.

You'll work primarily in React and TypeScript, with the freedom to go deep on frontend architecture โ€” component design, state management, testing strategy โ€” while also having real influence over the API contracts your UI depends on. Our engineering team moves fast, experiments with AI tools as part of our everyday workflow, and gives engineers genuine ownership rather than tightly scoped tickets. If you want to build ambitious, brand-new UI for a product where the stakes (security, trust, scale) are real, and you want a seat at the table when it comes to defining how a feature should work โ€” not just how it should look โ€” this is that role.

Location - We are flexible on remote working from home, if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states - CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, *IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OH, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA. We have physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL, if you prefer a hybrid option.

We hire the best software engineers, but experience in our stack canโ€™t hurt: NinjaOne is built on Java, Kotlin, C++, Golang and Postgres; supporting millions of user endpoints and running as a scalable cloud service in AWS.  Knowing large-scale datastore bottlenecks, asynchronous application design and client-server architecture will help you.

What Youโ€™ll be Doing

  • Design and build new frontend surfaces for the Endpoint State and Control team from scratch, with real input into architecture, component structure, and conventions from day one
  • Lead UI technical design end-to-end for your features โ€” defining API contracts alongside backend engineers, architecting components, and setting the test strategy
  • Translate Figma designs into accurate, production-ready UI, while pushing back with informed engineering and UX perspective when a design needs to flex for feasibility
  • Write and maintain thorough unit and integration tests (Jest, React Testing Library) as a non-negotiable part of shipping any component
  • Help establish the patterns, standards, and shared components that will shape how the Endpoint State and Control team builds going forward
  • Partner cross-functionally with backend engineers, designers, and product managers as the team's roadmap and priorities take shape
  • Bring AI tools into your day-to-day development workflow and help the team figure out where they genuinely speed things up
  • Other duties as needed

About You

  • 7+ years of frontend engineering experience, with expert-level React (18+) and TypeScript
  • A track record building complex, data-driven UI โ€” tables, modals, multi-step forms, or other intricate interfaces โ€” from the ground up
  • Experience with React Query (TanStack Query) or an equivalent server-state management approach
  • Strong testing habits: you write and maintain unit and integration tests (Jest, React Testing Library or similar) as a matter of course, not an afterthought
  • Comfortable working from Figma designs with high fidelity, and confident enough in your craft to push back with an engineering or UX rationale when needed
  • Experience leading technical design for a feature end-to-end โ€” from API contract through component architecture to test strategy
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity โ€” you enjoy standing up new patterns and making foundational decisions rather than working within an established codebase
  • Curious about and comfortable experimenting with AI tools as part of your development workflow

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Java 11+ or Kotlin (reading and contributing to backend code)
  • Experience standing up a frontend codebase or team from scratch
  • Familiarity with pnpm monorepos and shared component libraries
  • Accessibility compliance experience in enterprise B2B products, and prior work in endpoint management, IT operations, or security tooling
