Job description

Kearney is currently seeking Senior Accounting Associates to join our team. The Senior Accounting Associate will help develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel and assess clients' satisfaction, demonstrate proficiency with accounting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situations, as well as identify and effectively communicate accounting and auditing matters to Managers and Principals. Additional skills and responsibilities are defined below:
  • Maintaining relationships and communicating with key client personnel to understand business operations, processes, and functions
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of accounting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situations
  • Ability to bridge the gap between logistics procedures and financial accounting processes
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with clients and team members
  • Ability to balance multiple projects concurrently
  • Supervise and review work performed by other staff
  • Apply innovative methodologies that support an audit
  • Review and evaluate internal controls and supporting documentation
  • Development of solutions for implantation to mitigate deficiencies for internal control activities and supporting documentation
  • Determine compliance with policies and selected law/regulations are met

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting and auditing experience
  • Experience working with financial statement compilation
  • Ability to navigate a transaction database and determine potential issues or inappropriate posting
  • Proficient skills in excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing to travel up to 50%
  • Must have an active Interim Secret Clearance (or higher, such as Secret, Top Secret or TS/SCI) to be considered for this role (requires U.S. citizenship)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA highly desirable
  • Experience with Federal clients, A-123, and internal controls
  • Experience working with Federal and/or DoD clients

The expected salary range for this position is between $60,000 and $100,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
