Role Overview
PHI is seeking a detailed‑oriented and motivated Grant Research Assistant to support our fundraising and program development efforts. This volunteer will play a key role in identifying grant opportunities, analyzing eligibility requirements, and assisting with proposal preparation.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in nonprofit development, public health, research, or grant writing. Training and guidance will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct funding research to identify grants from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and philanthropic institutions
Review eligibility criteria and assess alignment with PHI’s mission and programs
Maintain a database of grant prospects, deadlines, and submission requirements
Assist with drafting, editing, and preparing grant proposal components
Support the development team in organizing supporting documents, budgets, and attachments
Summarize grant guidelines and prepare briefing notes for leadership
Participate in virtual check‑ins with PHI staff or volunteer teams
Contribute to improving PHI’s grant research processes and tools
Qualifications
Strong research and analytical skills
Excellent written communication abilities
Ability to interpret grant guidelines and eligibility requirements
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and self‑motivated
Comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines
Interest in public health, nonprofit development, or community impact
Prior experience with grant writing or fundraising is helpful but not required
