Job description


As a Security Officer Access Control Specialist in Shelby, MI, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Food/Beverage, and more. Join Allied Universal as an Access Control Officer in a fast-paced food and beverage location, where you will monitor entry points, verify credentials, greet employees and visitors, and help support a secure, welcoming environment. This role combines customer service, communication, and attention to detail while reflecting our agile, reliable, and innovative approach, a caring culture, teamwork, and integrity in every security-related interaction.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and/or drivers by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a food and beverage location.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and/or credentials, manage visitor logs, and help to deter unauthorized access to restricted and/or controlled areas.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and communicating with site contacts when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location, including entrances, loading areas, parking areas, and perimeter points, with working environments and conditions that may vary by site.
  • Support screening and traffic flow at gates and/or reception points, helping to confirm deliveries, direct visitors, and report unusual activity or security-related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
