Role Summary
Accenture is seeking an experienced industry leader to join our Downstream, Mobility & Convenience Retail practice as an Principal Director. This role is designed for a recognized industry practitioner with deep expertise in fuels retail, convenience retail, mobility, and downstream energy who can help clients navigate growth opportunities, improve performance, and accelerate transformation.
The Principal Director will serve as a trusted advisor to senior client executives, bringing practical operating experience and strategic insight to help organizations enhance customer engagement, improve profitability, optimize operations, and adapt to changing market dynamics. The role will also contribute to the growth of Accenture's Downstream and Mobility Retail business through business development, offering innovation, thought leadership, and executive relationship development.
This position requires a strong combination of industry expertise, leadership, commercial acumen, and the ability to collaborate across Accenture's Strategy & Consulting, Song, Technology, Data & AI, and Operations practices to deliver measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Industry Leadership & Executive Advisory
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior executives across the downstream, mobility, fuels, and convenience retail sectors.
  • Bring deep industry expertise and market insights to help clients address growth opportunities, customer engagement challenges, operational performance, and evolving market dynamics.
  • Represent Accenture in executive forums, client engagements, industry events, and thought leadership activities.

Business Development & Client Growth
  • Support the growth of Accenture's Downstream, Mobility & Convenience Retail practice through sales, account expansion, and relationship development.
  • Build and strengthen executive relationships across existing clients and whitespace opportunities.
  • Contribute to opportunity identification, solution shaping, proposal development, and pursuit activities to drive pipeline and revenue growth.
  • Lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to delivery across client engagements

Offering Development & Innovation
  • Help shape and evolve Accenture's offerings across loyalty, customer engagement, marketing transformation, retail operations, and growth strategy.
  • Collaborate across Strategy & Consulting, Song, Technology, Data & AI, and Operations to bring integrated solutions to market.
  • Contribute industry expertise to thought leadership, go-to-market initiatives, and the development of differentiated capabilities for the downstream and convenience retail sector.

Here is what you need:
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience within fuels retail, convenience retail, downstream energy, mobility, or related industries.
  • Deep understanding of North American fuels and convenience retail markets.
  • Experience working across company-owned, franchise, dealer, branded marketer, and wholesale operating models.
  • Demonstrated success engaging with C-suite and senior executive stakeholders.
  • Expertise in customer loyalty, customer engagement, marketing transformation, and customer experience.
  • Strong understanding of retail economics, P&L management, commercial performance, and operational improvement.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and complex business initiatives.
  • Proven ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational change.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and executive facilitation skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 75%.

Bonus Points:
  • Experience within fuel retail, convenience retail, travel centers, mobility, or integrated downstream energy organizations.
  • Experience developing go-to-market strategies, commercial offerings, or growth initiatives.
  • Experience driving business development, pipeline growth, and executive relationship management.
  • Prior consulting, advisory, or transformation leadership experience.
  • MBA or equivalent advanced business education.
