Job description

Department Overview
The Medical Physicist Assistant (MPA) performs tasks at the direction of medical physicists within the Department of Radiation Medicine. The general responsibility of the MPA includes performing patient specific quality assurance (QA) measurements with oversight from a Qualified Medical Physicist (QMP). Additionally, the MPA will assist with the transfer of data and help run standard machine performance plans.
OHSU students are eligible for this position.
Function/Duties of Position
  • Performs patient specific QA measurements following established procedures (to include operation of the treatment planning system and linear accelerator)
  • Performs readout of in-vivo dosimetry measurements using OSLD
  • Performs machine verification checks and data transfer.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 1 year of education in medical physics program
  • Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing data.
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
  • Possess an understanding of clinical radiation therapy, clinical physics and/or dosimetry
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed, especially late night shifts to conduct patient specific quality assurance.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize work flow.
  • Technical problem solving.
  • Excellent computer skills relating to operational software systems/networking
