Job description

Educational Support Tutor (K8) *Certified Position

Position: Educational Support Tutor  (K8)

Reports To: Building Principal and Director of Curriculum & Instruction

Employment: School Year Position
Hours: Not to exceed 22 hours per week; specific days and hours will be determined at the principal's discretion. 

Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana Teaching License.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of all required background checks.

Position Summary

The Educational Support Tutor provides instructional support to students and teachers in grades K8 through targeted interventions, small-group instruction, classroom support, and progress monitoring. The tutor collaborates with classroom teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to accelerate student achievement and support the implementation of high-quality instructional practices aligned with Jennings County School Corporation's curriculum, strategic plan, and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted reading and mathematics interventions to individual students and small groups.
  • Support classroom instruction through co-teaching, differentiated instruction, and supplemental academic support.
  • Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, and administrators to identify student needs and develop instructional plans.
  • Assist with administering assessments, monitoring student progress, and using data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Support the implementation of evidence-based instructional practices
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate results with teachers and administrators.
  • Foster positive relationships with students while maintaining a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Utilize instructional technology and digital resources to enhance student learning.
  • Participate in professional learning, grade-level/content-area collaboration, and district initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or district administration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices across grades K8.
  • Understanding of Indiana Academic Standards and evidence-based instructional strategies.
  • Knowledge of MTSS, intervention practices, and progress monitoring.
  • Effective classroom management and student behavior support skills.
  • Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and educational software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional learning community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience achieving successful student outcomes
  • Demonstration of success in improving student achievement and outcomes
  • Knowledge of effective literacy and mathematical instructional practices
  • Experience using student assessment data to guide instruction.
  • Experience working with diverse learners and supporting differentiated instruction.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to supervise students in classrooms and other school settings.
  • Ability to lift instructional materials and classroom supplies as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday.

Pay = $40/hr (22 hours maximum each week)
