REAL Journey Academies (RJA) is a non-profit charter school management organization designed to significantly increase college entrance and graduation rates for underserved students in the Inland Empire. We aim to impact and revitalize communities through the development of education and
other supportive partnerships.

Job Purpose:
Entrepreneur High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Girls Varsity Flag Football Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in developing and maintaining a successful girls flag football program. The successful candidate will assist with coaching, mentoring, and developing student-athletes while helping create a positive and inclusive team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, leadership, and personal growth. The Assistant Coach will support player development, game preparation, team operations, and program activities while reinforcing the goals and expectations established by the Head Coach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting team practices, conditioning sessions, games, and team activities.
  • Support instruction of flag football-specific skills, including passing, receiving, route running, defensive coverage, flag pulling, game awareness, and situational decision-making.
  • Provide individual and group instruction to help student-athletes improve their skills and performance.
  • Assist with implementing offensive and defensive strategies during practices and competitions.
  • Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to support player development.
  • Lead practices, conditioning sessions, and team activities when the Head Coach is unavailable.
  • Assist with off-season training opportunities, summer activities, camps, and program development efforts.
  • Promote player safety by teaching proper techniques and reinforcing established safety procedures.
  • Foster a positive team culture that promotes accountability, respect, discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes, supporting their academic, athletic, and personal growth.
  • Assist with communication efforts with student-athletes and parents as directed by the Head Coach.
  • Collaborate with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, athletic trainers, and school administration to support program goals.
  • Assist with equipment management, uniform distribution, field setup, and other team operational needs.
  • Support fundraising activities, team events, travel arrangements, and other program initiatives.
  • Assist with maintaining team records, statistics, eligibility information, and other program documentation.
  • Support efforts to monitor athlete academic eligibility and encourage academic success.
  • Help promote and grow the girls flag football program within the school and community.
  • Adhere to all school policies and procedures, league regulations, and state athletic requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all CIF Southern Section (CIF SS) rules, regulations, and policies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Previous coaching experience preferred; flag football coaching experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of football fundamentals, rules, strategies, player development, and conditioning techniques.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, staff, and community members.
  • Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all student- athletes.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Valid coaching certification or willingness to obtain all required certifications before the start of the season.


Physical demands:

  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to physically demonstrate and participate in sport-specific drills and activities.
  • Ability to stand, walk, run, and actively supervise practices and competitions for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as necessary for practices, games, tournaments, and team events.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The hourly pay for the Girls Varsity Flag Football Assistant Coach position is $20 per hour during the flag football season.
