Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees (i.e
paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees. Working Title: Experiential Learning Coordinator Position Number: Casual Hire Hiring Unit: Office of Academic Affairs Location: Kapi'olani Community College Date Posted: August 5, 2026 Closing Date: August 30, 2026, 11:59 PM HST Salary: Commensurate with education and experience Schedule: 40 hours per week Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Funding: Revolving Funds Other Conditions: Continuation is dependent on satisfactory performance, program needs, and renewal of funds.
Kapi'olani Community College currently seeks to fill six (6) vacancies. Applicants are requested to complete the provided Experiential Learning Coordinator Screening Form to designate their specific areas of interest regarding the Experiential Learning Coordinator position. Review of applications will begin on August 17, 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities: Leads, coordinates, implements, and evaluates programmatic tracks, workshops, learning labs, and student engagement initiatives supporting experiential learning, workforce development, undergraduate research, or special academic programs. Collaborates with faculty, staff, administrators, and external community/industry partners to integrate program goals, design place-based curriculum/workshops, and foster collaborative networking opportunities. Recruits, trains, supervises, and mentors student employees, peer mentors, interns, or student ambassadors, providing work assignments, scheduling, and professional development support.
Leads and manages all aspects of event planning and execution for college, program, and outreach activities, including logistics, participant communication, facilitation, and post-event reporting. Develops and implements programmatic workflows, annual goals, timelines, training resources, and operational guidelines in alignment with institutional priorities and grant criteria. Maintains current knowledge of emerging trends, pedagogy, and best practices in their programmatic area through professional development, workshops, and engagement with relevant professional networks.
Represents the office, department, or College at internal and external meetings, orientations, outreach events, and community activities. Works beyond normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, STEM fields, or a related field, and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for program coordination, instructional design, student support, project management, or community engagement; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of program coordination, student development, or experiential learning methodologies. Demonstrated ability to resolve wide-ranging complex problems through creative reasoning, logic, and timely execution.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective, positive, and collaborative working relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present complex information clearly in writing, verbally, and through instructional materials or presentations. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply common software tools (e.g., Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Zoom)
If applicable, for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities, and manage employee relations. Ability to work outside normally scheduled work hours including nights and weekends as required. Desirable Qualifications: Master's degree in Education, Social Sciences, Humanities, Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, STEM fields, or a related field.
At least one year of professional experience coordinating experiential learning, workforce initiatives, or educational programming within a higher education or community college setting. At least one year of professional experience developing curriculum, leading engaging workshops, or managing creative/technical learning environments (e.g., labs, spaces, cohorts). Evidence of commitment to Kapi'olani Community College's vision of positioning itself as a model Indigenous-serving institution
