Description:

The Division of Rheumatology, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and the Department of Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, invite applications for the position of Division Head, Rheumatology.ย The successful applicant must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor at the University of Toronto. Protected academic time will be determined based on the academic job description of the successful candidate. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2027, or shortly thereafter.

The Division Head will provide strategic, academic, clinical, and administrative leadership for a vibrant and productive Division. The successful candidate will foster excellence in patient care, research, education, quality improvement, innovation, and knowledge translation, while advancing the Division's academic mission and supporting an inclusive and collaborative culture.

Key responsibilities include providing clinical, academic, and operational leadership; establishing divisional goals and priorities that align with the strategic objectives of the Department, Hospital, and University; leading faculty recruitment, mentorship, and career development; supporting clinical and academic program development; and guiding innovation, implementation, and change management initiatives across the Division.

The ideal candidate will be an accomplished academic leader with demonstrated expertise in administration, strategic planning, program development, and organizational change management. The successful applicant will have an established record of achievement in clinical care, education, research, quality improvement, and/or clinical innovation, appropriate to their academic focus, as well as a strong commitment to faculty development and academic excellence. They will have achieved distinction in their field and will be expected to lead the Division in delivering excellence across all areas of clinical and academic activity.

The successful candidate must hold an MD degree, be certified or eligible for certification in Rheumatology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be licensed or eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Proficiency in English is required.

The primary practice location is Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, 2075 Bayview Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications, clinical responsibilities, and experience. Remuneration will be higher than $200,000 per annum. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association, through which clinical billings and benefits are administered. The successful candidate will also be eligible to participate in the Department's group medical, dental, and life insurance benefit plans.
