Job description

Amazon's Global Road Safety organization is responsible for driving the safety of our on-road operations worldwide. We are a data-driven team that believes world-class safety performance requires world-class measurement. We hold ourselves to the highest standards and are committed to raising the bar - not just against our own history, but against the best in the industry.
To that end, Amazon's Global Road Safety (GRS) organization is seeking a Senior Program Manager to build and lead an industry benchmarking program for on-road safety

You will design methodology, establish data sources, and execute a strategy that measures Amazon's global road safety performance against peer companies, industry leaders, and publicly available regional and national safety data.
You will build benchmarking frameworks from scratch, source and normalize external data (government statistics, industry consortia, peer disclosures, academic research), and partner with internal safety, operations, and data science teams to ensure meaningful comparisons. Beyond measurement, you will identify industry best practices and propose changes to Amazon's road safety programs that drive measurable improvement.
This role operates globally, requires comfort with ambiguity, and demands the ability to influence senior leaders to act on data-driven findings.
Key job responsibilities
Design and build Amazon's global road safety benchmarking program - defining what to measure, how to measure it, and against whom.
Develop rigorous methodology for comparing Amazon's safety performance (e.g., collision frequency, severity rates) against industry peers, regional averages, and national statistics across multiple geographies.
Identify, acquire, and normalize external data sources including government transportation safety databases, industry reports, peer disclosures, and academic research.
Discover, track, and evaluate global industry trends in commercial fleet safety performance and technology adoption.
Identify and document industry best practices spanning driver training, technology deployment, fleet maintenance, fatigue management, and safety culture.
Translate benchmarking insights into clear, prioritized recommendations and present findings to senior leadership worldwide.
Partner with Safety and Operations teams to ground benchmarking in operational reality.
Build relationships with external organizations (industry associations, safety consortia, academic institutions, government agencies) to access data and validate methodology.
Build and maintain recurring benchmarking reports (quarterly/annual) that track Amazon's relative safety position over time.
Support the GRS Engagement team with validated benchmarking data for external communications and policy engagement.
