The Academic Services Manager supports the Counseling Department within the School of Psychology and Counseling by managing daily academic operations, student services, accreditation-related processes, and departmental administration. This role serves as the primary point of contact for students, faculty, and university personnel while coordinating academic records, departmental events, course scheduling, and administrative support for the department's master's, doctoral, and certificate programs.

Work Location: Virginia Beach, VA

Essential duties:

  • Serve as the primary contact for students, faculty, and university personnel regarding academic processes, policies, and program support.
  • Manage academic operations including scheduling, records, compliance tracking, and data reporting.
  • Oversee all phases of the dissertation process, from contract setup to final ProQuest submission.
  • Maintain program assessment, retention, and accreditation records to support CACREP compliance.
  • Coordinate department events, faculty meetings, calendars, and logistical support for travel and guest speakers.
  • Coordinate hiring and administrative processes for GAs, TRAs, adjunct faculty, dissertation readers, and small-group leaders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum one year of administrative experience, preferably in higher education

Candidates must have:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn systems like Banner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
