Education Technician - Math Interventionist Assistant
About Maine School Administrative District No. 27
Maine School Administrative District No. 27ย serves 840 students in grades PreK-12 from St. Francis, St. John Plantantion, Wallagrass, New Canda and Fort Kent, ME, location ofย America's First Mile.ย  The district has threeย (3) schools, theย Fort Kent Elementary School(PreK-6),ย Valley Rivers Middle School (7-8), andย Fort Kent Community High School (9-12).

Job Summary: Provide instructional and behavioral support to students under the supervision of a certified teacher. This role involves assisting with classroom management, implementing educational plans, and supporting students with individualized needs in various educational settings.







Pay Range: $18.88 - $26.32 / hour


Qualifications:

  • Ed Tech Level 3 (Preferred)
    • Completion of at least 3 years of post-secondary education or a combination equivalent to 90 hours of approved study in an educationally related field.
    • Have Knowledge of the learning process, primarily in math and reading instruction.
  • Maine Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) required.
  • Educational Technician Certification
  • Strong Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff
  • Willingness to complete any required training or certification programs
  • Must be able to work with diverse learners, including students with special needs and juggle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to help maintain a positive and structured learning environment.
  • Maintains student privacy and upholds ethical standards

Ed Tech Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise, plan for, and instruct small groups of students in settings removed from the classroom.
  2. Support students with special needs by following individualized education plans (IEPs) or behavioral plans.
  3. Monitor student behavior and assist in maintaining a positive classroom environment.
  4. Assist in data collection and documentation of student progress.
  5. Supervise students in various settings, including classrooms, hallways, recess, and lunch areas.
  6. Maintain confidentiality of student records and information.
  7. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or administrator.

Math Interventionist Assistant Responsibilities:

The Education Technician assigned to this role shall:

  1. Provide small-group and individualized math instruction to assigned students in classrooms, library settings, or designated intervention spaces.
  2. Support students in improving math comprehension and fluency using materials and strategies aligned with classroom instruction.
  3. Reinforce and extend teacher-directed instruction through structured intervention activities and guided practice.
  4. Assist students with math-based assignments, homework, projects, and related academic tasks as directed by supervising teachers.
  5. Implement intervention plans developed in collaboration with classroom teachers, math specialists, and support staff.
  6. Maintain organized records of student participation, progress, and observed needs, and share information with supervising staff.
  7. Monitor student engagement, behavior, and work habits during intervention sessions and maintain a positive learning environment.
  8. Support students in developing independent learning strategies and study skills related to math.
  9. Participate in relevant professional development related to math instruction, intervention strategies, and student support when available.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervising administrator.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Most work is performed inside the classroom or other areas in the school building.
