At Wheeling University, you'll find more than just a workplace - you'll join a mission-driven community that lives by values of leadership, service, faith, integrity, and excellence. As an employee, you'll be part of a university that is committed to integrating learning, research, and outreach within its Catholic tradition, seeking to develop not only competent professionals, and also socially responsible citizens. Wheeling promotes close student-faculty connections and encourages all members to grow both intellectually and ethically, to serve with compassion among diverse communities, and to lead by example. In such an environment, your work will matter - your contributions help sustain a culture where academic rigor, moral purpose, and service to others are more deals --they are daily actions and practices.
Wheeling University, a Catholic university, seeks qualified applicants for the Chief Academic Officer. As a member of the President's Cabinet, the Chief Academic Officer works collaboratively with University leadership to fulfill the mission and promote an environment of continuous improvement. The Chief Academic Officer shall serve as the Executive Leader over academic excellence and development. The position will inspire faculty and staff through effective collaboration to advance the University's academic excellence and mission.
Responsibilities:
  • Successfully oversee academic programs.
  • Advise the President on all academic matters and University-wide initiatives.
  • Provide the vision for the direction, revision, and creation of academic programs of high quality.

  • Oversee and drive the assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Work with the Office of Admissions to support the recruitment and retention of students.
  • Work with the Office of Student Services to support curricular and co-curricular programming.
  • Prepare and monitor the annual academic operating budgets and serve as a steward of institutional resources.

  • Doctorate or other appropriate terminal degree.
  • Ten (10) years of proven success in higher education leadership with a preference for serving in a private, Catholic institution.
  • Experience working within a teaching institution focused on undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, and pre-professional programs.
  • Ability to work constructively and effectively within the academic community and with various internal and external stakeholders.
