Public Works Technician
Inframark is hiring a Public Works Technician to join our team. In this role, you'll do hands-on outdoor work that helps maintain city streets, public spaces, and municipal property. If you enjoy physical work, using equipment, and working as part of a team, this could be a great fit.
As a Public Works Technician, you will:
  • Operate equipment such as backhoes, jackhammers, chain saws, lawn mowers, chippers, weed eaters, tractors, and concrete saws, following all safety rules
  • Mow and trim city property and rights-of-way
  • Remove brush, leaves, debris, and tree limbs
  • Plant and fertilize trees, shrubs, and flowers
  • Spray for weeds in flower beds and grassy areas
  • Clean public areas by sweeping, picking up trash, and emptying trash containers
  • Repair sidewalks, curbs, and small concrete areas
  • Help resurface roads and clear debris from streets
  • Perform minor building repairs such as basic electrical work, plumbing repairs, and painting
  • Fuel and help maintain departmental vehicles and equipment
  • Assist with landscaping, storm cleanup, fence repairs, and drainage work
  • Clean and repair drainage structures and help lay pipelines
  • Help install, clean, and maintain road signs and traffic signs
  • Assist with setting up and cleaning up for public events, parades, and festivals
  • Direct traffic at work sites when needed
  • Attend safety training and follow all company safety policies
  • Work well with coworkers and the public and follow all company rules
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months of landscaping or outdoor work experience (preferred)
  • High school diploma, GED, or vocational training preferred
  • Valid state driver's license and ability to meet driving standards
Skills and Abilities
  • Basic math skills (addition and subtraction)
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and equipment
  • Ability to read, write, and speak simple instructions
  • Ability to follow procedures and solve basic problems
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Working Conditions
This job is mostly outdoors. You may work in:
  • Hot or cold weather
  • Wet or humid conditions
  • Dusty or noisy environments
  • Around traffic, equipment, animals, chemicals, and other hazards
