Job description

Person in this position works in street/sidewalk construction and maintenance and is required to have a CDL driver's license in order to operate equipment necessary to accomplish job.
Essential Duties:
Operates backhoe/loader, street sweeper, motor grader, mowing tractors, chain saws, weed trimmers, 10 wheel dump truck, vactor truck, operates a line striping machine, vacuum signage machine and line eradicator.
Digs ditches to grade, loads and unloads trucks with dirt, gravel, rip-rap, and sand, etc.
Responsible for installing driveway culverts and storm drains to grade.
Responsible for removing, replacing, repairing, and constructing sidewalks.
Responsible for removing, replacing, repairing and constructing sidewalks.
Performs manual labor with shovels, rakes, and hoes, etc.
Repairs dirt roads as necessary to maintain pass ability.
Works in inclement weather maintaining storm water flow and street pass ability.
Fells, trims, and removes trees of various sizes.
Required to perform other duties as assigned such as brick, block, concrete, or carpentry work.
Requirements
Knowledge And Skills:
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have a valid commercial driver license (CDL)
Should have 1-2 years experience in street construction and maintenance and general carpentry. Mechanical skill preferable.
Should have ability to supervise employees and/or work as a team member on other crews.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
The environmental working conditions of this position include constantly working around hazardous machinery, and working in high and low temperatures. Also, very frequently exposed to wet surroundings, low noise and working outside. Frequently works around electrical hazards, works at night and around loud noise. May occasionally work in cluttered floor areas, around poor ventilation, dust or fumes and may occasionally work inside. Mental stress or pressure of this position is very frequent.
