Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the Product Manager in optimizing the Instrument Transformers & Sensor Portfolio and return on investment. Each day, you will ensure that ABB has full understanding of market requirements in a specific area and can transform those requirements into offer specifications and development activities. You will also showcase your expertise by performing various other lifecycle activities supporting the development, launch, maintenance, the cost/price data in the tools, and profitability in line with ANSI Grid Components Product Line strategy.

The work model for the role is #LI-onsite.
This role is contributing to the ANSI Grid Components/NAM BL/ELDS. Main stakeholders are Product Line Manager - ANSI Grid Components, Product Manager - Instrument Transformers & Sensors.
You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Market Analysis & Growth: Conduct market intelligence analysis to identify portfolio gaps and emerging opportunities. Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Marketing, Product Specialists and sales team to develop growth plans, focusing on white spaces and high-potential market segments.

  • Product Development & Specifications: Work with Product Manager to define technical and market requirements for products. Collaborate with the R&D team to execute investment plans efficiently, ensuring swift time-to-market for new product launches.

  • Customer-Centric Strategy: Analyze market trends, customer-driven standards, and competitive positioning. Develop customer value propositions tailored to specific segments and channels, ensuring sustainable growth.

  • Cost/Price Management: Working closely with Product Manager, Product Specialists, Supply Chain, Finance ensure cost and price updates in the sales tools.

  • Lifecycle Management: Lead product lifecycle processes by assessing performance metrics like orders, gross margins, and profitability. Make data-driven decisions about product obsolescence and end-of-life to maximize profitability.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product Specialist team, Product Marketing Team, Sales Team, Customer Support, Quality, Production, and R&D teams to address pre- and post-sales issues efficiently, including failure analysis and resolution support.

Qualifications for the role

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience in product management, portfolio management, product marketing, product life-cycle management and customer relationship management. A degree in Business Management is a plus.

  • Knowledge of North American electrical networks including Instrument Transformers & Sensors (standards, products, applications, utilities) is advantageous.

  • Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and a results-driven mindset.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with a collaborative and purpose-driven approach.

  • Global mindset with proven intercultural competence and willingness to travel locally or internationally (up to 30%).

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English required.

  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
