Job description

Required to rotate to all locations which perform mammography services.
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Manager Radiology, the Mammography Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the work of the mammography department. Facilitates patient continuity of care between hospital departments and programs for patients with breast health concerns. Responsible for scheduling appointments, review and track all biopsy results and facilitating hand-off to Clinical Navigators. Supports Virtua Mission and Vision statement and upholds Virtua values and Culture of WE. Adheres to all Virtua policies and procedures.
Position Responsibilities
  • Works with surgeons, radiologists, radiation oncologists and physicians to provide quality care to patients with breast health concerns.
  • Flexibility to rotate to all locations which perform mammography services.
  • Responsible for scheduling all patients who may need additional imaging based on their screening mammogram.
  • Schedules all diagnostic mammograms, breast ultrasound, breast MRIs, breast biopsies and any 6 month follow up imaging.
  • Contacts the referring physician's office to request slip, add/change an exam.
  • Review and track all biopsy results and make appropriate hand-off to Clinical Navigators.
  • Serves as a resource to women with breast health concerns, i.e., teaches breast self-examination, answers questions about breast health concerns and provides breast health lectures as needed.
  • Educates patients concerning what can be expected prior to, during and after diagnostic and treatment procedures.
  • Evaluates the patient's physical and emotional recovery after treatment, utilizing appropriate resources as needed.
  • Develops and revises patient educational materials.
  • Participates in professional growth and development opportunities by attending various meetings, conferences, and courses.
  • Meet with patients in-person at time of study if necessary to provide support and guidance.
  • As needed, recommends quality and/or process improvement initiatives to effectively and efficiently perform the functions of this job. In emergency situations can be called upon to perform mammography scans.

Position Qualifications Required:
Required Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Mammography Technologist required and possess knowledge of MQSA/FDA standards.
Required Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology.
Training / Certification / Licensure: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) and NJDEP licensure required.
Advanced certification in Mammography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (A.R.R.T.) required.
CPR certification desired.
Hourly Rate: $40.62 - $63.16 The actual salary/rate will vary based on applicant's experience as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
