Main Purpose of Job

This position serves as the lead worker of the Retirement\r\nFinals Processing Team. As a lead worker, this position is responsible for\r\nworking closely with the unit supervisor in the daily processing of work and\r\nproviding technical direction to staff in the finalization of retirement\r\nrequests and creating lifetime payment records. This position mustmaintain knowledge of internal policies and procedures, federal and state pensionlaws, regulations, and the ability to properly process work. Based on reviews ofretirement payrolls and salary data, this position also makes recommendations to management for solutionsregarding complex retirement payroll situations.\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

This position will be responsible for various retirement\r\nprocessing and finalization duties including, but not limited to:\r\n\r\n\r\n Utilizing independent judgement to assign and review estimate\r\n requests and application calculation worksheets in accordance with\r\n established procedures to minimize retirement backlogs and to ensure\r\n timely and accurate processing.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Reviewing and/or resolving salary audit cases in Customer\r\n Relationship Management software (CRM). Reviewing the applicable salary\r\n data for the case, creating the appropriate corrective transactions and\r\n submitting for approval and resolution.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Providing guidance and training to new and existing staff in the\r\n preparation and calculation of estimate requests and retirement\r\n application calculation worksheets in accordance with established\r\n procedures to minimize backlogs and to ensure timely processing.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Working in conjunction with the section supervisor in the\r\n preparation and modification of procedures, internal policies, checklists,\r\n worksheets, and other job aides.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Completing special projects assigned by the Retirement Processing\r\n Manager, Deputy Director or Director including locating and retiring\r\n vested members.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. \r\nExperience: Three years of administrative staff or professional work. \r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to twoyears of the required experience.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degreefrom a college or universityfor the required experience.\r\n3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included the regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the requiredexperience.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Please\r\nnote that your answers to the supplemental questionnaire must correspond to the\r\ninformation provided on your application to receive credit.\r\n\r\n\r\nPreferred\r\ncandidates will possess the following qualifications:\r\n\r\n One year of\r\n experience reviewing and processing incoming applications, including\r\n eligibility for benefits (e.g. retirement, insurance, health, etc.).\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience serving in\r\n a lead, senior, or peer-support capacity without direct supervisory\r\n responsibility.\r\n\r\n\r\n One year of\r\n demonstrated experience working with Microsoft Office software, including\r\n Word, Outlook, and Excel at an intermediate level.\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience reviewing\r\n work, identifying processing errors or inconsistencies, and recommending\r\n appropriate corrections.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n\r\n
