Duetti provides an ambitious, high-ownership environment where your work will have an immediate, tangible impact.
Role Overview
As an A&R at Duetti, you will play a key role in executing Duetti's mission to provide new and transparent financing options for artists. Based in the U.S., you will focus on identifying and engaging artists and their teams across Japan, helping them understand how Duetti enables flexible catalog sales in exchange for significant cash buyouts. You'll collaborate closely with the Sourcing, Underwriting, Legal, and Management teams to bring deals to completion.
Sitting within Duetti's Sourcing team, you will work hand-in-hand with the Head of Sourcing and colleagues across the company to expand our artist network and deal flow in Tokyo and the broader Japanese market. This role operates at the intersection of Music, Operations, and Data Analytics, allowing you to directly contribute to Duetti's goal of democratizing music catalog monetization on a global scale.
You Will:
  • Engage and identify new artists suitable for Duetti's unique financial solutions, developing a deep understanding of Duetti's offering and how it compares to other financing solutions in the market
  • Oversee all points of the sales cycle, including prospecting, negotiating, onboarding, and close
  • Create and execute strategic plans on how to generate new leads and penetrate the Tokyo and broader Japan artist market
  • Nurture relationships with artists, songwriters, managers, and other industry stakeholders
  • Attend industry events, showcases, and conferences, representing Duetti and expanding our artist network
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution and integration of deals
  • Leverage data analytics to identify opportunities and drive efficiency across the sales cycle
  • Stay updated with industry trends, competitor strategies, and emerging technologies in the music fintech space

Requirements:
  • 5+ years of proven experience in an artist-facing role at a management company, record label, DSP, publisher, or music finance company with a strong focus on the Japanese artist and songwriter community
  • A passion and deep interest for the music industry, with an ability to quickly interpret deal structures and generate creative solutions to close deals
  • Proven attention to detail, strong work ethic and enthusiasm for working in an early stage start-up environment which requires "self starters" and problem solvers
  • A high degree of organization, and an ability to juggle a large number of deals at once
  • Ability to lead, collaborate and work autonomously in a dynamic start-up team environment with a positive can-do attitude
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external cross-functional teams
  • Bachelor's Degree in music, media or related field
  • Experience in negotiating and executing on publishing deals is a big plus
  • Ability to speak fluent Japanese and English

$70,000 - $100,000 a year
