Position Summary
The Medical Office Specialist (MOS) is responsible for front desk coverage for the medical practice which includes r egistration, check-in, c ollecting co-pays, scheduling appointments, billing patients, and scanning records into EMR , reports, and correspondence. The MOS p ossesses medical terminology knowledge, o rganization and communication skills , ability to adapt to flexible work schedules and frequent interruptions, and professional appearance, all while maintaining a calm disposition, problem solving, and decision-making skills. R eliable, tactful, honest and discreet in maintaining confidentiality at all times. Must be able to carry out specific assignments to successful conclusion.

Qualifications
Education Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training and Travel
Education :

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

• Completion of an accredited Medical Office Assistant/Specialist program or Medical Assistant program preferred

Work experience :

• Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year experience as a Medical Assistant or Medical Office Specialist, preferred.

• Familiarity with medical terminology required

• Experience with patient check-in and check-out process (according to clinic protocol)

Knowledge :

• General medical office procedures

• Understand end of day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol)

Skills :

• Proficiency in basic computer programs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Office

• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

Abilities:

• Must be able to perform courteously and professionally in all interactions .

Equipment Operated:

• Office equipment such as fax machine, copier, and telephone system

• EKG machine, other patient care testing
