PUBLIC SAFETY STUDENT ASSISTANT

Support campus safety by providing front desk coverage, assisting with building walkthroughs, monitoring surveillance systems, and supporting emergency and event operations. Ideal for students with attention to detail and a commitment to service and campus safety.
Responsibilities and Career Competencies:
- Greet students, parents, and campus community in person and by phone - C, P, TW
- Answer front office phone, direct inquiries, and take clear messages (dispatch function) - C, T
- Assist with monitoring CCTV security system - T, CT
- Deliver, pick up, and distribute internal mail and packages - P, TW
- Make deliveries and pick-ups for other departments - P
- Remain vigilant and report suspicious activity or persons - CT, P
- Assist during emergencies and special events - CT, P, TW
- Support Public Safety educational programming - C, CTR
- Provide front desk coverage at Bears Tower - C, P
- Help with developing campus wide communications - C, P, T
- Other duties as assigned - P, TW

Education Requirements: Must be in good academic standing. Must not have any current conduct cases against them. Must be enrolled at UPIKE.

Computer Skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and new technology.
Work Schedule: Monday through Sunday; hours vary according to workload.
Work Conditions: Heat, cold, odors/smoke, noise, wetness, humidity, dust.
Physical Demands: Keyboarding, reaching/handling, stooping/kneeling, crouching/crawling, pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs.

Pay Rate: $8.75/hour
Location: Public Safety office and public safety outposts on campus
