Job Title: Graphics Coordinator

Reports to: Pre-Press Manager

Job Summary

The Graphics Coordinator is responsible for reviewing, revising, approving, and releasing art proofs for production. The Graphics Coordinator works closely with personnel from other departments including Scheduling, Graphics, Customer Experience, Sales, and Manufacturing to ensure art proofs are accurate and complete for each job order.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • NA

Essential Duties

  • Review POs for new or revised jobs and request art from the customer to begin the artwork process.
  • Perform pre-flight adjustments to optimize jobs for efficiency, quality, cost, etc.
  • Submit job requirements to arthouse and perform quality control check on files returned from arthouse.
  • Collaborate with arthouse to identify potential cost-saving opportunities
  • Submit quote and final art proof to customer for approval.
  • Communicate with arthouse when approved jobs are ready for processing (e.g., generate TIF file and plate creation).
  • Review incoming color proofs and flexographic plates to confirm they meet specifications.
  • Order replacement plates as necessary, examining the press profile and assessing quantity needed.
  • Update press profiles as needed to optimize cost.
  • Add revised art information to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to ensure the affected job is updated and accurate before being released.
  • Edit art PDFs to include detailed department-specific information and instruction (e.g., adding glue lines, adjusting die lines, etc.).
  • Locate and print current version of art PDF to be included with each job order.
  • Conduct annual press profile to determine and update press characteristics and capabilities.
  • Perform other duties as needed related to the creation, modification, and monitoring of art proofs, job orders, and related documentation.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work from and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to present information and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively work with material and resource planning systems, spreadsheets, word processing documents, and other applicable computer systems and software, especially Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Capacity to think critically, analyze, and track details/data and make competent decisions based on those details/data.
  • Proven ability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.

Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of general business administration that is normally acquired by the completion of associate’s degree in Business Administration or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of three years of administrative, marketing, order processing, or related experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience with Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar photo editing software preferred.
  • Experience with flexographic printing is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods of time.
  • Capability to lift and carry objects of various weights up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Proficiency in using hands, fingers, and arms for tasks such as typing and writing.
  • Sufficient visual acuity to read documents and recognize details at close and distant ranges.
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal communication.
  • Flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach low or high objects occasionally.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying heavy objects occasionally.
  • Work is typically performed in an office environment though certain tasks/projects may occur outside or in a manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to adhere to safety protocols and wear protective gear, including helmets, goggles, gloves, and safety shoes, as required by the job.
