Responsibilities

As a Skilled Laborer/Groundman, you will support all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you're up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

  • Follow all safety procedures and use proper PPE to ensure the safety of yourself, your crew, and the public
  • Perform general labor duties including trenching, backfilling, job site prep, and material handling
  • Assist with installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable, including fiber blowing and placement
  • Support aerial and underground construction as directed and trained
  • Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment between job sites
  • Assist with equipment and vehicle operations (trucks, trailers, and construction equipment) as directed and certified
  • Support site cleanup, basic maintenance, and overall job site organization
  • Assist with troubleshooting and basic repair of RF and fiber systems as needed
  • Learn to read and interpret construction prints, maps, and design schematics
  • Gain experience with telecom tools and equipment such as bucket trucks, line trucks, cable reels, and power tools
  • Work locally 50% of the year and travel 50% of the year within the Mid-West
  • Work on 7-10 day travel projects, 50+ hours a week

  • Valid and current CDL A/B Required
