Mechanical Estimator - Construction - Base Salary to 90k/year - Knoxville, TN

  • Our client, a well-established construction contractor with a strong regional presence, is seeking a Mechanical Estimator to support MEP-focused commercial and industrial projects, with a primary emphasis on HVAC and sheet metal systems. This role will focus on preparing accurate cost estimates, performing detailed takeoffs, and supporting competitive bid development.

Responsibilities:

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documents for MEP-focused construction projects
  • Prepare detailed labor and material takeoffs for HVAC and sheet metal systems
  • Develop accurate cost estimates including equipment, materials, labor, and subcontractor scope
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as required
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support bid strategy and project turnover
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, materials, and industry standards

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience estimating mechanical construction projects with a strong MEP focus
  • Direct experience estimating HVAC and sheet metal systems
  • Experience supporting commercial and/or industrial construction projects
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents
  • Experience performing detailed labor and material takeoffs
  • Proficiency with estimating/takeoff software (such as Trimble AutoBid or similar)
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and Adobe
  • Experience working with vendors and subcontractors to develop pricing
  • Must be able to work onsite in the Knoxville, TN area
