Job description

Job Title: Sprinkler Fitter

Job Description

This role involves installing and assembling fire suppression sprinkler systems on commercial and industrial construction projects across multiple sites in the Columbus area. You will work with various piping systems, ensure installations meet safety and code requirements, and contribute to long-term projects that support critical facilities. A daily per diem is available for qualified travelers.

Responsibilities

  • Install, assemble, and modify fire suppression sprinkler systems on commercial and industrial construction sites.
  • Work with Victaulic pipe, steel pipe, and threaded flex heads to complete sprinkler system installations.
  • Interpret and follow construction blueprints and plans to lay out and install sprinkler piping and components accurately.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and fit pipe and fittings to specified dimensions and configurations.
  • Use appropriate tools and equipment to assemble, secure, and support sprinkler piping and related components.
  • Use basic hand tools and lifting equipment safely and effectively to complete daily tasks.

Essential Skills

  • Journeyman-level experience as a sprinkler fitter, including hands-on installation of fire suppression systems.
  • State of Ohio sprinkler fitter certification, or eligibility to obtain certification through reciprocity.
  • Minimum of 3 years of job experience in sprinkler fitting if applying for reciprocity without a home-state certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and plans.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Sprinkler fitter certification from another state, with the ability to apply for reciprocity through the Ohio Fire Marshal.
  • Demonstrated experience installing fire sprinkler systems on commercial and industrial projects.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a coordinated construction team.

Work Environment

You will work at several active construction sites across the Columbus area, including pharmaceutical, healthcare, and other commercial and industrial facilities. Typical start times are around 6:00 a.m., with shift patterns that may include schedules such as four 10-hour days with additional 8-hour shifts, or five 9-hour days with additional 8-hour shifts, depending on the site.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $36.00/hr.
