Position Summary

The 5th Grade Math Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based mathematics instruction to fifth-grade students while integrating a Christ-centered worldview. This role supports students as they strengthen foundational math skills, develop problem-solving abilities, and prepare for the transition into middle school. The teacher models Christlike character, fosters a structured and encouraging classroom env

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

  • Plan and deliver daily math lessons aligned with 5th grade standards and school curriculum.
  • Teach core math concepts including fractions, decimals, operations, geometry, data analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies including hands-on learning, collaborative activities, and technology-based resources.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Integrate biblical principles and real-world applications into math instruction.
     

Assessment & Progress Monitoring

  • Assess student learning through quizzes, tests, projects, and observations.
  • Analyze assessment data to guide instruction and provide targeted support.
  • Communicate academic progress clearly and consistently with students and parents.
     

Classroom Management & Student Support

  • Establish a structured, respectful, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Set clear expectations that promote responsibility, independence, and accountability.
  • Support students' social, emotional, and spiritual development through guidance and encouragement.
     

Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with grade-level teachers, specialists, and administration.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
  • Maintain accurate lesson plans, grade records, and student documentation.
  • Comply with all school policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
     
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Elementary Education, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Valid teaching certification (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Experience teaching upper elementary or intermediate grades.
  • A clear Christian testimony and agreement with the school's statement of faith.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
     

Preferred

  • Experience teaching 5th grade math or departmentalized instruction.
  • Familiarity with state math standards and assessment practices.
  • Experience in a Christian or faith-based school environment.
