Job description

Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut is seeking determined individuals with a great passion for helping others. Those with experience in Human Services or those seeking a career change are encouraged to apply for this rewarding position!

As a Job Coach, you would be assisting program participants with disabilities at their place of employment by helping them maintain their jobs and become more independent in the workplace.

Hourly Pay Rates:

Weekday Day Shifts (before 5pm) = $16.94 an Hour

Weekday Evening Shifts (after 5pm) = $17.25 an Hour

Any Weekend Shifts = $18.00 an Hour

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provide on-site vocational instruction and work-readiness training to help participants learn job tasks, workplace social skills, and safe work practices that support independence and success.
  2. Stay current on each participant's Individual Service Plan (ISP) to deliver appropriate on-site supports aligned with their goals and preferences.
  3. Coordinate with Lead Job Coaches and team members to build and maintain job site support schedules.
  4. Conduct Trial Work Experiences and related vocational services, observing and documenting participants' readiness for competitive employment and any accommodation needs.
  5. Complete weekly timecards with input from participants who are paid by Goodwill.
  6. Document services and collect data in the Therap case management system, including all required reports.
  7. Build relationships with worksite employers and communicate regularly with managers to review participant productivity and work quality.
  8. Gather input for vocational planning from participants, family members, counselors, and the Community Employment Services team.
  9. Comply with all agency policies and procedures, including HIPAA privacy requirements. This position has access to participant Protected Health Information (PHI) under the HIPAA Privacy Rule.
  10. Maintain certification in Physical Management Techniques (PMT) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and other trainings as required.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Job Requirements:

  • A combination of education, training, or practical work experience considered.
  • Effective time management skills, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Satisfactory driving record, current drivers’ license, and daily access to a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle for frequent in-state driving.


Training Requirements:

  • First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) are required (Will be scheduled post-employment).
  • Physical and Psychological Training (PMT) required. (Will be scheduled post-employment).



Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • May be required to stand for long periods of time.
