Head Start is looking for both 4K and non 4K Teachers!

Early Childhood Education teachers will work within the UW Oshkosh Head Start program, which is a federally funded, preschool program for low-income families.

Each position works collaboratively to develop skills and practices to support school readiness for each child and to support our comprehensive services offered to each child and family. Classroom sizes are 15-16 children. School is in session September - May/early June, with additional August work hours for staff. Our program embraces the High/Scope curriculum, offers many professional development opportunities, and implements Pyramid Model and Conscious Discipline programs to support social/emotional development.

Head Start employeeshave the opportunity towork with 384 children and their families every school year. We have seven centers in five different cities throughout Winnebago, Calumet, Outagamie, and Shawano Counties.

Staff wellness is prioritized through available individual/group reflective practice, Practice Based Coaching, and wellness initiatives.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates individualized and developmental educational plans for children in collaboration with other stakeholders, as needed
  • Mentors new teachers and students
  • Maintains the safety and physical well-being of children in a designated classroom
  • Maintains and documents effective communication with internal and external stakeholders to relay pertinent information and provide updates of child activities per established guidelines and regulations
  • Plans and facilitates classroom programming and schedules daily classroom activities for an early childhood education facility according to established curriculums

  • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education and/or related field

Non-4K Teacher

  • Associate degree or higherin early childhood education or degree in related field with experience teaching preschool
