Riverside Health is seeking a dedicated Pain Management / Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician to join our growing, patient-centered team in Smithfield, Virginia. This practice is located in a brand-new, state-of-the-art medical office building adjacent to Riverside Smithfield Hospital, which opened in January 2026.

Pain Management / Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physician
This position offers a unique opportunity to focus on comprehensive pain management and functional restoration within a collaborative and supportive healthcare system. The ideal candidate is passionate about evidence-based care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and improving patient quality of life through non-surgical and interventional approaches
Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal, spine, and neurologic pain conditions
  • Develop and manage individualized treatment plans with a focus on functional improvement
  • Perform pain management and interventional procedures consistent with training and scope of practice (as applicable)
  • Collaborate closely with neurosurgery, orthopedic providers, physical therapy, and multidisciplinary clinical teams
  • Educate patients on treatment options, expectations, and long-term pain management strategies
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold Riverside Health's standards of care

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, or a related specialty
  • Pain Medicine Fellowship preferred but not required
  • Eligible for or currently licensed to practice medicine in Virginia
  • DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience performing and interpreting Electromyography (EMG) and Nerve Conduction Studies preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented approach to care
