Overview

ABA Technician / Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

Verbal Beginnings is a leading Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy provider serving children diagnosed with autism. We provide extensive training to anyone interested in learning about ABA therapy and autism and have a passion for working with children!

Schedule, Location and Compensation:

  • When: Sessions typically occur 3-5 days per week for 2-3 hours, most often during after school hours between 3pm-8pm
  • Where: Sessions typically occur in the child’s natural environment (in the child’s home, community, and/or school).
  • Compensation: $23.00 - $29.00 per hour, based on experience and certifications

Responsibilities

What does my day look like as a Behavior Technician (BT)/Registered Behavior Technician (RBT):

  • ABA Technicians work under the direct supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement individualized treatment plans
  • to address communication, behavior, feeding, ADLs, and social skills. The ABA Technicians / Registered Behavior Technician
  • Collects and records data to monitor the progress of a treatment plan and works in collaboration with the clinical supervisor to update the treatment plan as necessary

Qualifications

Attributes and qualifications needed to be successful in this role:

  • Patience, compassion and the desire to help children with autism achieve their goals
  • Genuine desire to learn about Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with others
  • High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree (completed or in progress) preferred
  • Experience working with children 
  • Must have valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
  • All ABA Technicians will be required to complete or provide proof of completion of the 40-Hour RBT course. Verbal Beginnings will provide the course to those who need to complete it.

The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those that an employee must be able to meet to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.

  1. Regularly required to perform activities such as reaching, grasping, walking briskly or running, sitting on the floor, kneeling, crouching, ascending and descending stairs, and transitioning quickly between standing, sitting, and other positions (e.g., floor, chair, or other surfaces) throughout the day.

  2. Ability to interact effectively by speaking clearly, using age-appropriate language, and maintaining attention through verbal and non-verbal communication.

  3. Must be able to independently operate a vehicle to travel to and from a client’s location.
