Job Summary

The individual hired will ultimately end up in either a Production Miner or Mine Support role. The description below highlights tasks for each position. During the interview process, we will cover each position in more detail. These positions perform a variety of tasks daily to support underground mining operations. Tasks assigned will vary on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis operational need and will range from simple to complex in nature. Light and heavy equipment operation will be required as part of this position. This opening would be on either 2nd or 3rd shift and will pay either $36.58 or $37.30 based on job assignment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complete required operational and MSHA safety training
  • Perform pre-operation equipment inspections and document findings
  • Safely operate each required machine and consistently meet production standards
  • Clean, grease, oil, and service machines; make minor repairs/adjustments as assigned and assist mechanics with major repairs as directed
  • Complete required paperwork (inspection sheets, timecards, production logs, and shift reports)
  • Work independently throughout the shift while coordinating with supervisors and teammates as needed
  • Identify and address safety hazards and equipment issues; report concerns immediately
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required

  • High school degree or equivalent educational experience.
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Must be able to apply for an ATF license through Morton Salt
  • Able to work independently and as an active member of a team
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management

Preferred

  • Prior experience with heavy equipment is a positive, but due to specific nature, mining equipment experience not required.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

  • Work in underground and surface mine environments with variable temperatures and humidity; expect outdoor weather exposure, noise, and dust.
  • Work areas are generally dry, but visibility may be limitedโ€”many locations rely on a cap lamp and/or equipment lighting.
  • Navigate uneven, slick, and changing ground conditions (including floor heave and polished surfaces from mobile equipment traffic).
  • Work safely around moving machinery and energized power cables, maintaining constant awareness of roof and rib conditions.
  • Meet physical demands including prolonged standing, long-distance walking, and extended seated equipment operation with whole-body vibration; work at heights using a full-body harness; shovel/clean spillage and lift up to 5 feet; operate multiple hand/foot controls; lift up to 65 lbs; and climb ladders of 30 ft or more
