Job description

The Hydaker-Wheatlake Company is seeking to hire a full-time Substation General Foreman to join our growing team!

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate the activities of electrical crews, including Foremen and Journeymen, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Assign tasks, set priorities, and provide clear instructions to team members.
  • Mentor and train crew members, fostering skill development and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Review project plans, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate implementation of electrical systems and components.
  • Coordinate work within the tenets of IBEW contract and follow the ALBAT policies with regard to apprentices
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other trades to resolve issues and maintain progress.
  • Monitor project schedules and adjust labor and resources to meet deadlines.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety by enforcing safety policies, conducting regular safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company standards.
  • Inspect worksites and equipment to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all work is performed to meet quality standards and project specifications.
  • Conduct inspections to verify proper installation and functionality of electrical systems.
  • Address and resolve quality issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of work hours, materials, and equipment used.
  • Prepare and submit daily or weekly progress reports to project management.
  • Coordinate material and equipment deliveries to minimize downtime.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between field crews and project management, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
  • Represent the company in meetings with clients, contractors, and union representatives as required.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman certification required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Construction or related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge in both civil and electrical substation construction, maintenance and related safety practices.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.
