Territory-Based | Industrial Automation & Motion

Reports to: VP of Sales

Adams is seeking a high-performing technical sales professional focused on territory growth and market expansion. In this role, you will help manufacturers and OEM machine builders improve reliability, automation, and machine performance while growing Adams’ market share within your territory.

You will build new customer relationships, expand existing accounts, and identify opportunities where Adams’ automation and reliability solutions deliver measurable operational impact.

This role is ideal for a technical sales professional who enjoys building new relationships, solving engineering challenges, and growing market share within a defined territory.

What You’ll Work On

Our consultants partner with customers to solve real engineering and manufacturing challenges by applying automation and reliability technologies.

You will work directly with:

  • Plant Engineers & Reliability Leaders improving uptime and system performance
  • Maintenance & Operations Teams focused on production efficiency and troubleshooting
  • Controls & Automation Engineers responsible for PLCs, machine control systems, and plant automation
  • Design & R&D Engineers developing next-generation machines and equipment for OEM applications

Territory Growth & Business Development

This role is focused on expanding Adams’ presence and market share within your territory.

You will:

  • Expand Adams’ footprint within existing strategic accounts
  • Uncover opportunities for automation, motion, fluid power, robotics, and reliability solutions
  • Position Adams as a trusted technical advisor to plant teams and engineering groups
  • Build and manage a strong pipeline of new opportunities through HubSpot CRM

Success in this role comes from developing new opportunities and converting them into long-term customer partnerships.

Typical activity includes 10–12 customer meetings per week and consistent opportunity development.

Engineering Support & Turnkey Solutions

One unique aspect of this role is the ability to support customers at multiple levels.

Adams consultants can sell both individual components and complete engineered systems.

Working alongside the Adams Engineering team, you can support customers with:

  • Integrated automation systems
  • Fully engineered turnkey projects

This allows you to engage customers whether they need a single component, a subsystem, or a fully engineered automation solution.

This role offers:

  • Territory ownership and autonomy
  • Access to engineering and factory resources
  • Exposure to both manufacturing facilities and OEM machine builders
  • Opportunities to sell components, systems, and turnkey automation solutions
  • Continuous technical and professional development
  • A strong team-selling culture

Top performers earn a spot on our Annual President’s Club Trip — an exclusive destination experience recognizing exceptional performance and territory growth.

  • Technical sales experience in industrial automation, manufacturing, or engineered solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, maintenance teams, and operations leaders
  • Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills
  • Self-driven professionals who take ownership of their territory and results
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for solving real engineering and manufacturing challenges
