Job description

We can’t do what we do best – make great-tasting sausage products – unless our equipment is reliably running at its best. Members of our maintenance team keep our machines, lines and facilities running. You and your teammates will be responsible for all production and industrial refrigeration equipment, as well as our electrical controls systems. You’ll also work closely with our engineers and production members to make important upgrades to our production machinery, as we innovate and grow the business.

Position Overview

The Maintenance Team Lead will lead the 3rd shift maintenance team in Johnsonville’s journey to becoming the best company in the world that just so happens to make sausage. They will lead and assist with Implementing Johnsonville’s Maintenance Excellence Program, initiate preventative maintenance strategies, coordinate maintenance repairs, and troubleshoot all plant and utility equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Work with members to develop and maintain Personal Development Commitments
  • Lead and coach the 3rd shift Maintenance Team through proper training and development efforts
  • Identify technical skill gaps and develop members to close the gap
  • Set work priorities and provide direction to the team to ensure completion of required work
  • Ensure planned work schedules, preventative maintenance schedules and responsibilities are completed
  • Track and analyze team performance metrics to drive improvement
  • Facilitate the successful resolution of recurrent problems through team participation
  • Drive, Lead, and maintain reliability efforts as they relate to equipment and processes
  • Engage in root cause analysis and implement proactive solutions
  • Ensure effective communication between all maintenance shifts relative to scheduling, work projects, and other necessary information
  • Develop relationships with internal customers and facilitate cohesion among the teams
  • Create an atmosphere of innovation and problem-solving within the Team
  • Be an agent of change to increase performance and results
  • Maintain and improve equipment to produce world class Uptime
  • Execute efficient scheduled work prioritization, assignment, and completion
  • Complete all other duties as assigned
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience
  • At least 4 years of industrial maintenance experience required
  • At least 2 years of leadership experience
Skills
  • Demonstrated experience/ability to coach and mentor others to higher levels of responsibility/skills
  • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills are required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong decision making and prioritization skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP are strongly preferred
  • Based on business necessity, must be proficient in English.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift, carry and hand grip up to 65 lbs, and pull up to 20 lbs
  • Walking and/or Standing throughout the shift
  • Bending and/or Reaching throughout the shift
Other Requirements
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment, post offer drug screen, physical and background check
  • Travel – up to 5‑10%
