Job description

Machine Operator- E-Beam 3rd shift

Judd Wire Inc., a Sumitomo Electric Group company, is looking for a 3rd Shift E-Beam (Irradiation) Operator in our Turners Falls, MA facility.  Individuals will be responsible for a variety of duties including: Performing required operations within the Irradiation Department adhering to strict standards in the processing of wire and cable. Targeted job training provided for all skill levels starting on day 1 and throughout your career at Judd Wire.

Minimum Hourly Rate: $20.32/hour, $3.00/hour 3rd shift differential.

Job Duties

  • Work from SOP’s, work orders, schedules, written and verbal instructions as to set up and operate irradiation equipment control panel. Adhere to programmed specifications, maintain records in BPCS system. 
  • Maintain continual check on control of samples to ensure insulated wire is receiving proper irradiation. Spot operations should equipment failure result in not adhering to dosage specifications.
  • Check wire and cable before stringing up on machine; restring if breaks. Refer product work to proper department if received for irradiation in an improper condition.
  • Maintain log on equipment, performance, hours and other similar information as instructed. May assist others in minor repairs, outer/inner irradiation vault as appropriate. Clean wire path line to maintain clean product coming out of vault.
  • Cross train on all E beams and rotate between as scheduled. 
  • Detect and report defective materials, malfunctioning equipment, unusual conditions to supervision. Observe all safety rules and regulations. Maintain equipment and work areas in clean and orderly condition.   

           Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 1-3 month’s transferrable experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Team player with the willingness to learn.
  • Position requires knowledge of ordinary arithmetic including decimals, fractions, and simple use of specifications together with use of adjustable measuring instruments.  Position requires moderate physical effort consisting of frequently moving average weights and continuous mental and visual attention to repetitive work, requiring constant alertness or activity.  Working conditions may expose employee to noise, fumes, dust, etc. 
  • PIV Training and certification will be completed after hire.
