Barr is seeking a field technician with a reality capture and survey focus to join our Minneapolis, Minnesota, office. In this hybrid role, you will use traditional survey equipment alongside reality capture technologies, including 3D scanning and drones.

Your impact - key responsibilities

  • Field duties: traditional surveying; 3D scanning; drone surveying; bathymetric surveying; sampling equipment preparation and monitoring.

  • Office duties: field mission planning; processing, reviewing, and interpreting field data; assisting with report preparation; point cloud registration and processing; preparing base maps and data sets using AutoCAD and other reality capture software.

About the opportunity

  • Hybrid:ahybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. This refers to splitting time between a Barr office, field sites, and a home office.This position can be based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.

  • Travel expectation:willingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needs (including up to 50% travel and 50% fieldwork expected; project needs will vary seasonally andover time).

  • Work environment:ability to work in locations that may include rough terrain and other conditions typical of mining, power, construction, manufacturing, and/or rural outdoor sites with limited accessibility, moving machinery, and other conditions typical of industrial facilities and construction sites. Candidates must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Physical requirements for the role may include: the ability to safely lift and carry equipment weighing about 30 pounds up anddown stairs, ladders, and elevated surfaces on a frequent basis. Candidates must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

About you -requiredcore competencies

  • Education:two-year technical certificate or five years of experiencedirectly relatedto the job responsibilities described above.

  • Software:strong computer skills, including word processing and use of spreadsheets.Familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Autodesk applications such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, and related applications.

  • Driver's license:possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Helpfuladditionalexperience (notrequired)

  • 8+ years of relevant experience.

  • Experience working in the field or on a construction site.

  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS).

  • Familiarity with reality capture technologies (3D scanning, point clouds, LiDAR, photogrammetry, VR/AR, 360 photo capture).

  • Familiarity with Leica Geosystems hardware and point cloud processing workflows (Cyclone, Register3D, JetStream, CloudWorx, TruView, 3DR).

  • Experience with point cloud registration/processing and alignment with design software.

  • Familiarity with drone capture workflows (Pix4D and other LiDAR/Photogrammetry applications).

Compensation: anticipated range of $27.00-$40.00/hour. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. This position is classified as non-exempt (hourly) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
