Job description

Summary
The CT Scan Technologist is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the CT department and throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and by the identification band on in-patients
  2. Use schedule to maximum efficiency, maintain patient flow, and schedule. add-ons
  3. Produce high quality CT scans through proper positioning and technique.
  4. Proficiently use scanners to include sending to Nighthawk, 3DR, and VRAD.
  5. Follow all protocols and procedures to meet department standards
  6. Work closely with the radiology nurse and the radiologist when performing biopsy and drainage procedures
  7. Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions
  8. Follow department, NRC, and State regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure "ALARA"
  9. Review patient's chart for confirmation of physician's orders and follow written and/or verbal protocols and instructions
  10. Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate lead
  11. Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges, and/or credits
  12. Educate patient, and family when necessary, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome
  13. Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel
  14. Follow ACR Guidelines to maintain ACR Accreditation.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned

  8. Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when it is necessary to ensure patient care

Education and Experience
Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited program in radiologic technology
Preferred Education: N/A
Experience: Previous experience as a registered technologist is required
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Applicants must be ARRT (CT) registered within 18 months.
Must be BLS certified.
