How much do 3d rendering medical imaging jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 6, 2026, the average yearly pay for 3d rendering medical imaging in the United States is $78,472.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $58,500.00 and $98,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the difference between 3D Rendering Medical Imaging vs Medical Illustrator?

Aspect3D Rendering Medical ImagingMedical Illustrator
CredentialsOften requires degrees in radiology, medical imaging, or related fields; certifications in imaging softwareTypically holds degrees in medical illustration, art, or related fields; certifications in graphic design or illustration
Work EnvironmentHospitals, imaging centers, medical device companiesMedical publishing, educational institutions, healthcare marketing
Industry UsageUsed for diagnostic visualization, surgical planning, and medical device developmentUsed for educational materials, patient information, and medical publications

While both roles involve visual representation of medical concepts, 3D Rendering Medical Imaging focuses on creating detailed, accurate 3D visualizations from medical scans for diagnostic and planning purposes. Medical Illustrators produce educational and promotional visuals, often combining artistic skills with medical knowledge. The key difference lies in their primary application and technical focus.

What are some common challenges faced when working with 3D rendering in medical imaging, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in 3D rendering for medical imaging often encounter challenges such as processing large, complex datasets and ensuring accurate representation of anatomical structures. These challenges can be addressed by staying updated with the latest software advancements, collaborating closely with radiologists for clinical validation, and maintaining strong attention to detail. Additionally, effective communication with multidisciplinary teams is crucial to ensure that rendered images meet diagnostic and educational needs. Regular training and participation in workshops can also help in mastering new tools and techniques.

What is 3D rendering in medical imaging?

3D rendering in medical imaging is the process of creating three-dimensional visual representations of structures inside the body, using data collected from imaging techniques such as CT scans or MRIs. This technique allows healthcare professionals to view anatomical features from different angles and to better understand complex structures, which can improve diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient communication. 3D rendering can also be used in surgical planning, education, and research, making it a valuable tool in modern medicine.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a 3D Rendering Medical Imaging Specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a 3D Rendering Medical Imaging Specialist, you need expertise in medical imaging modalities (such as CT, MRI), anatomy, and image post-processing, typically supported by a degree in radiology, biomedical engineering, or a related field. Familiarity with advanced visualization software (like OsiriX, 3D Slicer, or Mimics), DICOM standards, and possibly certifications in radiologic technology are crucial. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication with healthcare teams set top performers apart. These skills ensure accurate, high-quality visualizations that aid clinical decision-making and improve patient outcomes.

Job description

Event Production Designer (CAD & 3D Visualization)

COMPANY DESCRIPTION

Van Wyck & Van Wyck is a highly regarded environmental design and event production firm with headquarters in New York City. We produce private celebrations ranging from stunning weddings on beaches and mountaintops to international destination experiences and not-for-profit events.

Workshop designs and produces engaging events that communicate a brandโ€™s message. We build experiences that create compelling content, heighten brand loyalty and influence purchase behavior.

www.workshopworldwide.com

Our two sister companies are distinguished by innovative designs and an unsurpassed level of service, with over 20 years of experience in the field. We are a dynamic, creative, and growth-oriented team with incredibly high production values.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Workshop is seeking an Event Production Designer (CAD & 3D Visualization) with deep expertise in spatial design, floor plan drafting, and photorealistic 3D rendering for high-end live events. You will shape how space, movement, and design come together to create seamless, high-touch guest experiences.

This is a production-forward role focused on translating creative concepts into precise, buildable spatial documents that support execution from concept through strike.

You approach design through the lens of event logic, including traffic flow, sightlines, service access, rigging zones, and load-in sequencing. You communicate design intent clearly to both creative leadership and technical teams.

Production literacy is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Floor Plans

  • Produce fully dimensioned, production-ready floor plans from site measurements, venue drawings, and field data
  • Integrate all logistical elements into a single, legible plan (staging, tenting, power, service paths, bars, dance floors)
  • Maintain version control and distribute updates clearly across stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with venue requirements, fire egress, and operational constraints

3D Rendering and Visualization

  • Create photorealistic renderings that accurately reflect production realities, not placeholders
  • Model real materials, lighting conditions, rental inventory, and architectural context
  • Iterate quickly based on feedback without compromising quality
  • Coordinate with lighting and AV teams to reflect fixture placement and beam behavior

Production Collaboration

  • Partner with Project Managers to align drawings with evolving logistics and budgets
  • Participate in site visits, surveys, and load-in walkthroughs to validate spatial assumptions
  • Collaborate with vendors (lighting, AV, rentals, floral) to resolve spatial constraints
  • Design with full production lifecycle in mind: build, show, and strike

Design Communication

  • Translate creative direction into clear, buildable drawings and visual assets
  • Identify spatial conflicts, feasibility issues, and cost implications early
  • Maintain organized libraries of venue drawings, plans, and rendering assets
  • Present plans and renderings confidently in client and internal settings
