POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title:
3D Printed Part Finisher โ€“ 3D Printing
Location: RTP, North Carolina
GENERAL FUNCTION:
The 3D Printed Part Finisher is an essential part of clientsโ€™s Digital Engineering (DE) 3D Printing & Prototyping team and will have the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of clientโ€™s next-generation medical products and enhance the current product portfolio. โ€ฏUnder the general direction of 3D Printing & Prototyping management, the Engineering Technician will provide quality โ€œfinishedโ€ 3D printed parts and/or components/fixtures to business customers in a safe and timely manner. โ€ฏWe are excited to add a highly motivated individual that can adapt quickly and work within a dynamic environment. โ€ฏ
RESPONSIBILITIES:
โ€ข Clean 3D Printed parts according to defined standard operating procedures.
โ€ข Hand finish 3D printed parts using defined techniques while maintaining feature geometry and checking tolerances on key dimensions.โ€ฏ
โ€ข Use precision measurement devices (i.e. โ€“ digital calipers, GOM) to ensure dimensional accuracy.
โ€ข Operate 3D Printing equipment when performing routine and rotational maintenance on a regular schedule to produce highly accurate medical device prototypes in a timely manner.
โ€ข Maintain proficiency in viewing model files using CAD software (i.e. - Magics by Materialise).โ€ฏ
โ€ข Maintain finishing supplies in the laboratory and evaluation of special supplies, techniques, and equipment that may be beneficial for quality part finishing.
โ€ข Perform work following standard operating procedures.โ€ฏ
โ€ข Wear proper safety equipment where required.
โ€ข Under the direction of the 3D Printing & Prototyping Manager, contribute as needed in the R&D of 3D printing applications.
โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
โ€ข High school diploma is required.
โ€ข 1+ year experience with 3D printed part post processing or machining activities. โ€ฏ
โ€ข Experience with 3D printing is a strong plus; examples: Stereolithography (SLA), Carbon (DLS), Digital Light Processing (DLP), PolyJet 3D Printing, and Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF).
โ€ข Proven computer experience, including the ability to use CAD software desired.
โ€ข Organized and time-oriented individual with the ability and drive to contribute towards the quick turn-around time on finished parts while ensuring fine detail and accuracy. โ€ฏ
โ€ข Open to exploring new techniques related to 3D Printing & Prototyping or DE-related areas. โ€ฏ
โ€ข Proven ability to work successfully in both team and individual situations. โ€ฏ
โ€ข Clear verbal and written communication skills. โ€ฏ
โ€ข Ability to lift at least 40 lbs. a must.
