Entry Level Milling/3D Printing Operator


Location: Waunakee, WI
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; or 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, preferred


Position Summary


D&S Dental Laboratory is seeking a detail-oriented and technology-driven Entry Level Milling/3D Printing Operator to join our growing team. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining advanced equipment used to manufacture high-quality dental restorations. The ideal candidate enjoys working with technology, takes pride in producing precise work, and thrives in a fast-paced production environment.


Key Responsibilities


Milling Operations
  • Prepare, schedule, and manage milling jobs according to production priorities.
  • Operate CNC milling equipment used in the fabrication of dental restorations.
  • Monitor milling processes and make adjustments as needed to ensure quality results.
  • Load materials, tools, and digital files according to production specifications.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and production issues as they arise.

3D Printing Operations

  • Operating and maintaining 3D printers (Carbon, Asiga, and similar systems)
  • Printing dental models, prosthetics, and other lab components
  • Performing printer maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Maintaining a clean, organized 3D print production area
  • Monitoring print accuracy and ensuring quality standards
  • Managing inventory and ordering resins, trays, and other printing materials
  • Post-processing printed items such as dentures, custom trays, nightguards, and models
  • Assisting with digital scanning workflows for removable cases
  • Helping prioritize rush cases and manage production needs
Quality Control
  • Inspect milled/printed restorations for accuracy, fit, and overall quality.
  • Identify defects and communicate concerns promptly.
  • Ensure all products meet company and customer quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records.
Team Collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other departments regarding workflow and case status.
  • Assist with cross-training opportunities between Milling, Greenware, Printing and other production departments as needed.
  • Support production goals by maintaining efficiency and meeting deadlines.
Qualifications


Required
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
Preferred
  • CNC milling experience
  • 3D printing experience
  • Dental laboratory experience
  • CAD/CAM or digital manufacturing experience
