Description of PositionUnder the guidance and direction of the Lead Lab Tech, woodworking/woodturning instructors and the lead faculty in 3D visual arts, the lab assistant assists in supporting the educational purposes of the 3D Visual Art program. Keep the wood shop clean, safe and orderly for the instructors, students and other lab assistants. Assist students with using equipment, tools, and processes as approved by the lead lab teach and woodworking/woodturning instructors.
Woodworking Lab Tech- Assist in overseeing the condition of all equipment in the wood shop (bandsaws, table saws, routers, jointers, lathes, sanders, etc.
- Oversee open lab times and assist students as appropriate to their current instruction
- Keep Inventory of materials.
- Receive and distribute deliveries of various materials
Minimum Expectations & Requirements- Experience in a variety of woodworking/woodturning equipment, tools, and processes.
- Lift heavy weights of 50-100lbs alone or with assistance
- Work in a dusty environment and wear appropriate safety masks, glasses, etc.
- Regular attendance as scheduled is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties
Preferred Skills & Abilities- Work experience in a community college/higher education work environment.
