Position Overview
Omni Automation LLC is seeking a Mechanical Designer of any experience level to join our Engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to work on custom conveyor and material handling systems from concept through production. You will collaborate closely with engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams to develop designs that are functional, manufacturable, and aligned with customer requirements.
This position is well-suited for both early-career designers looking to build a strong technical foundation and experienced professionals seeking to contribute to complex, custom-engineered projects in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical solutions for custom conveyor and material handling systems
  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks
  • Perform design layouts and drafting to support manufacturing and assembly
  • Analyze project requirements and support feasibility and design decisions
  • Specify purchased components, materials, and hardware
  • Collaborate with engineering, project management, sales, and manufacturing teams
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, drawings, and specifications
  • Participate in design reviews, testing, and troubleshooting activities
  • Ensure designs comply with company standards, safety requirements, and industry best practices
  • Support continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives

Skills Required
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and drafting
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Ability to collaborate in a team-based environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Time management and organizational skills

Knowledge Required
  • Mechanical and functional design principles
  • Metal manufacturing and fabrication processes
  • Basic understanding of material handling or industrial equipment systems
  • Interpretation of technical drawings and specifications
  • Familiarity with common mechanical components and assemblies

Ability to Implement Skills and Knowledge
  • Translate design concepts into manufacturable drawings and assemblies
  • Apply mechanical design principles to solve real-world engineering challenges

Qualifications
  • Mechanical Design or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred, but not required
  • Equivalent experience or technical training will be considered
  • Experience with metal fabrication or manufacturing environments is a plus
  • Strong desire to learn, grow, and develop new technical skills
