Job description

Custom Home Architect

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Designer / Drafting Specialist to support the design and documentation of luxury custom homes. This role focuses on producing accurate, permit-ready construction drawings and translating design concepts into detailed residential plan sets, marketing documents and customer portfolios.


The ideal candidate has strong residential drafting experience, a solid understanding of construction methods in coastal areas, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, permitting agencies, and internal team members throughout all project phases.


Please Note: Applicants must reside within commuting distance of Fort Myers, Florida. Remote, out-of-state, and international candidates will not be considered. Residential custom home drafting experience is required.


Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed residential construction documents, including floor plans, elevations, sections, details, outdoor living spaces, custom built-ins, kitchens, and tile layouts.
  • Create and revise drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Layout, and related design software.
  • Produce 3D visualizations and presentation materials using advanced modeling and rendering tools.
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, contractors, and permitting agencies to ensure design accuracy and project compliance.
  • Manage project schedules, deadlines, and drawing revisions throughout design and permitting phases.
  • Conduct site visits and assist with construction administration as needed.
  • Support material selections, space planning, and architectural detailing for custom residential projects.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in residential architecture and custom home design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit and Adobe Creative Suite; experience with ArchSynth, ArchiCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, Bluebeam, or Navisworks is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction practices, particularly luxury custom homes in coastal environments.
  • Excellent drafting, detailing, and construction documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.


This is an architectural design and drafting position and is not an interior design role.
