How much do 35 hours a week jobs pay per hour?

As of Sep 4, 2026, the average hourly pay for 35 hours a week in Indiana is $16.90, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $15.10 and $19.42 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What does it mean to work 35 hours a week?

Working 35 hours a week typically means that an employee is scheduled to work a total of 35 hours over the course of a standard workweek, often spread across five days. This schedule is considered full-time in some organizations, while others may classify it as part-time, depending on their policies. The exact distribution of hours can vary based on the employer and the nature of the job. Employees working 35 hours a week may be eligible for certain benefits, but eligibility depends on company policy and local labor laws.

What types of roles commonly offer a 35-hour workweek and how might this structure impact my daily responsibilities?

A 35-hour workweek is typically found in roles within public sector organizations, educational institutions, and some non-profit or progressive private companies. In these settings, your daily responsibilities are often structured to fit within a standard seven-hour workday, promoting work-life balance. While you can expect a full workload, tasks are generally scheduled to avoid frequent overtime, and collaboration with colleagues is planned around these consistent hours. This environment can help reduce burnout and allow for more predictable scheduling, which is especially beneficial for those seeking stability or balancing personal commitments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a 35-hour-a-week employee, and why are they important?

A 35-hour-a-week position is a work schedule, not a specific job title, so the essential skills and qualifications vary depending on the actual role performed. Technical tools, certifications, or systems used will depend on the job's industry and responsibilities. Strong time management, adaptability, and communication skills are valuable soft skills for maximizing productivity within a limited workweek. These qualities are important to ensure efficiency, meet performance goals, and maintain work-life balance in a standard part-time or full-time setting.

What is the difference between 35 Hours A Week vs 40 Hours A Week?
