Description
Summary/ObjectiveWe're looking for a hardworking professional who enjoys meeting challenges and surpassing customer expectations. The ideal candidate will have a background in residential fittings and welds, from light fixtures to duct work, and will be willing to work on-site as well as in-house to complete jobs for customers on time and on budget. We're looking for a long-term candidate who is looking for a secure and rewarding form of employment.
Essential Functions

  • Must read blueprints and perform shop math to layout, fabricate and weld various parts and assemblies
  • Must be able to weld all types of metals, set and maintain welding machine (tip, liner changes, etc.) and weld vertical, horizontal and overhead
  • Perform all MIG and TIG welding procedures (all positions), including machine settings and necessary fittings.
  • Field install welds, including duct work, light fixtures, vents, fans, metal sheeting and other parts
  • Select proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions
  • Welding of mild steel and aluminum where required.
  • Grind and clean area where required and ability to use grinder, sander, rivet guns, saws and other air tools
  • Inspect welds for cracks, burn through and weld spatter
  • Conserve resources whenever possible to ensure budgetary integrity and client satisfaction
  • De-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required

Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Must be able to work outside in harsh weather conditions.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position involves standing, walking and lifting and moving up to 75 pounds for long periods of time throughout the day.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Overtime and Saturdays, as well as the possibility of altered shift hours due to varied work demands, may be required at the request of your supervisor.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required Education and Experience
  • 2+ years' experience operating as a commercial welder
  • Have knowledge of all welding and assembler operations in the work center
  • Understand and carry out verbal and written directions in English
  • Stay current in TPM and basic mechanical adjustments on all equipment as needed
  • Ability to read and understand assembly prints, pick lists, sales orders and shop orders, and other written or verbal instructions presented in English
  • Ability to read English and tape measures and use measuring devices
  • Ability to perform all operations within acceptable quality and time standards
  • Ability to recognize quality expected and be able to meet quality standards
  • Ability to perform maintenance on welding equipment
  • Ability to assemble custom prototype metal components
  • Must have good knowledge of shop math
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must pass and maintain in house AWS Welder Certification
  • Must have general knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards
  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence and memos in English
  • Bilingual Spanish

Preferred Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years of factory-related experience in a structural steel fabrication environment
  • Current and valid certification a plus

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Fluent in English, must be a U.S. citizen or have proof of U.S. residency and at least 21 years of age
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must pass pre-employment safety training, background and drug and alcohol screen. Please be aware that WMS has a comprehensive drug policy, which includes random testing
