The Instructional Technology Specialist (ITS) is responsible for working collaboratively with the administration and staff to support the implementation of innovative instructional practices. Emphasis is placed on creating a support structure that assists classroom teachers in leveraging technology to create a personalized learning environment for all students. The position will serve as the technology program manager, instructional technology leader, and instructional technology partner/coach for teachers across all content areas. The position reports to and is evaluated by the Project Coordinator for Instruction and Program Improvement. School principals will provide feedback regarding the instructional technology specialist's performance which will be included in the interim and summative evaluations.
Qualifications:
  • Holds a Master's degree in education, instructional technology, or other related field with a Master's degree preferred.
  • Holds a Collegiate Professional or Post Graduate Professional Virginia teaching license.
  • Minimum of three years successful teaching experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of curriculum development and implementation.
  • Considerable knowledge of effective and varied teaching strategies and assessment techniques
  • Ability to integrate technology into curricular areas.
  • Considerable knowledge of research trends in instructional technology.
  • Considerable knowledge of the use of personal computers, iPads, Smartboards, Chrome Books, video production, as well as a wide variety of digital resources, tools, and instructional programs.
  • Willing to flex work schedule at the discretion of the supervisor.
  • Must have the physical ability to work effectively with students with challenging behaviors.
  • Must have above average amount of repetitive hand movements (including simple grasping, pushing/pulling, fine manipulation), walking, bending, standing, stooping, lifting (up to 20 lbs.), kneeling, reaching, and crawling. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.

Responsibilities:
  1. Plan, manage, and oversee the implementation of SECEP's online instructional applications.
  2. Establish an environment that encourages innovative, creative, and independent use of instructional technology.
  3. Facilitates the use of technology for data analysis and tracking student performance.
  4. Participate in professional growth activities that result in enhanced knowledge of best practices in instructional technology and digital learning.
  5. Plan, prepare, and deliver professional learning activities that focus on the integration of technology as well as other innovative instructional best practices to support the curriculum.
  6. Ensure the effective integration of the International Society of Technology of Education Standards (ISTE) and the Virginia Computer Science SOLs through the use of coaching and cooperative teaching methods.
  7. Collaborate with SECEP Curriculum Specialists to select, implement, and adapt technology to support curriculum across all content areas.
  8. Provide a high level of support, through modeling and coaching, to teachers and other school staff in the use of innovative instructional practices and supportive instructional technology that leads to improved student
  9. Use effective verbal and non-verbal communication techniques and problem-solving skills to foster positive interactions between team members and lead to improved student and staff outcomes.
  10. Model professional, moral, and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactions.
  11. Take responsibility for and participate in a meaningful and continuous process of professional development that results in the enhancement of student and staff outcomes.
  12. Work in a collegial and collaborative manner with peers, school personnel, and the community to promote and support student and staff outcomes.
  13. Provides service to the profession, SECEP, and the community.
  14. Perform other job duties as assigned.
