This can include a wide variety of roles, such as freelance writing, virtual assistance, online tutoring, web development, digital marketing, and customer service. Online work often offers greater flexibility in terms of work hours and location, making it appealing for people seeking a better work-life balance or the ability to work from anywhere. What are some common challenges faced when working online and how can they be managed?

When working online, common challenges include maintaining clear communication with team members, managing distractions at home, and setting boundaries to avoid overworking. To address these, it's important to use collaboration tools (like Slack or Zoom) to stay connected, establish a dedicated workspace, and set regular working hours. Regular check-ins with your team and clear expectations can also help foster a productive and supportive remote work environment.

Job Summary
THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY, COLLEGE OF SOCIAL WORK (CoSW) is a renowned leader in higher education. Our mission is clear: Through rigorous research, excellence in instruction, and steadfast service, the CoSW works to improve the human condition. Always, in all ways.
As the state's flagship university, CoSW is committed to actualizing our mission through innovative, accessible academic programming. CoSW is home to Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (traditional and online), Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice (traditional and online), Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (traditional and online), Master of Social Work (hybrid and online), Master of Science in Criminal Justice (online), Doctorate of Social Work (online), PhD in Social Work (traditional), and multiple certificate programs. In addition to Lexington's main campus, we have a satellite campus at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.
To continue to advance our support infrastructure for CoSW, we invite applicants for a 12-month, non- tenure eligible open rank position in the Clinical Title Series to begin as early as Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.
Primary duties associated with this position involve provision of instruction, training, and advisement for students across all academic programs housed in the College of Social Work. In addition, this position will be responsible for curriculum development of graduate-level programming. Successful applicants will have experience teaching at the university level and demonstrated ability to effectively participate in scholarly activities.
The University's mission involves three primary functions across our faculty cohort: instruction, research, and service. Each year faculty work with the Office of the Dean to deliniate their distribution of effort (DOE). This DOE outlines how faculty will spend their time. In general, DOE for faculty members in the Clinical Title Series typically includes allocation in the area of instruction. Of course, the DOE can fluctuate depending on an array of factors (e.g., new course development, service to the college, etc.). While the DOE is reviewed on an ongoing basis, successful candidates are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. It is expected that work in this faculty appointment, including but not limited to course instruction, office hours, administrative meetings, and attending college-wide events such as faculty meetings, will occur on-site.
