The Job You Will Perform:
The Specialty Operator is responsible to Plant Management for the day-to-day safe operation of Three different machine centers; , A) the Slitter, B) the Stitcher, and C) the Taper / Gluer. The Specialty Operator is able to demonstrate a complete understanding of mechanical functions of the machine and displays a high degree of trouble-shooting ability. Understands basic principles of corrugated, flutes, corrugation direction, and can identify various substrates. Operator is capable of determining, as needed, the best order to run various jobs for greater efficiency. Assists in the set up of the machine and training of crew members. Able to delegate machine responsibilities to crew members to insure the most efficient operation of the various machine centers. Ensures the quality of the finished product produced at each machine center. Assures that productivity and throughput levels are maintained. Responsible for assisting in run rate improvements, quality improvements and downtime elimination at the machine center. Responsible for all associated order paperwork, reports, as well as HRMS feedback.
Job Requirements
  • Must follow all safety rules and procedures; watch out for self and team member's safety at all times. Always follow lock out and tag out and MSK procedures; always use personal protective equipment (safety glasses, ear plugs, steel toed shoes & safety vest, others as required). LOTT proficiency must be shown at all machine centers.
  • Must understand and carry out housekeeping standards.
  • Must demonstrate teamwork and resolve issues effectively and professionally.
  • Must be capable of running machine at safe speeds and top quality to meet customer needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to detect, prevent, and resolve quality issues, involving management for resolution of issues or confirming quality expectations as needed.
  • Must be able to read a standard tape measure, read and thoroughly understand job specifications, and follow written and oral directions.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to operate from directions or independently as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to add and subtract all units of measure read and copy figures, and count and record figures.
  • A comprehension level is required to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in English in written or oral form and to deal with problems.
  • Constant standing, walking, and reaching at or below shoulder level; frequent twisting, bending, and lifting from the ground; repetitive lifting up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be willing and able to work daily and weekly overtime, including weekends, as business conditions require.
  • Must be willing and able to effectively delegate tasks to crew members to insure the most efficient operation possible
  • All other duties as assigned
