Summary

The Contractor Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) provides comprehensive on-site psychiatric services, including diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and ongoing clinical support to individuals with mental health, behavioral health, emotional, or developmental needs. Operating as an independent contractor, the PMHNP delivers high-quality, person-centered care using evidence-based practices while collaborating with multidisciplinary team members as appropriate. This role offers flexibility and autonomy in scheduling while requiring on-site presence to support COMHAR’s mission of promoting wellness, recovery, and resilience within the communities we serve.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures thorough, quality, up-to-date medical and health documentation for assigned clients
  • Ensures effective, evidence-based therapeutics, including medication prescription for assigned clients
  • Completes psychiatric evaluations and mental status exams in conjunction with documentation standards
  • Completes all required client-related documentation including psychiatric evaluations, mental status exams, lab requests, mental status forms, incident reports, etc.) for all assigned clients in coordination with documentation standards
  • Meets monthly with supervisory staff to review cases, individual performance, identify and assess practice and developmental goals, etc.
  • Collaborates with treatment team members in reviewing client’s progress and treatment needs
  • Ensures timely and effective communication with clients, families, providers, caseworkers, advocates and other medical professionals involved in clients' care
  • Ensures compliance to all internal and external regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ensures continued professional development and self-improvement
  • Maintains necessary credentials to ensure ongoing practice
Requirements:

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Job Requirements:

  • Master's or higher degree in nursing science
  • Active and unrestricted PMHNP license in Pennsylvania
  • Eligibility for DEA licensure
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse
  • Minimum one (1) year of community behavioral health outpatient experience preferredAbout COMHAR:
