Job description

The BCBA will design, implement, and assess behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for clients with behavioral challenges, ensuring that strategies are evidence-based and tailored to individual needs. The BCBA will work closely with other team members, including behavior technicians, caregivers, and educators, to monitor and modify behavior in a variety of settings, such as homes, schools, and clinics.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct Behavioral Assessments:
    • Perform functional behavior assessments (FBAs) to identify the causes and factors contributing to challenging behaviors.
    • Analyze and interpret assessment data to determine appropriate interventions.
    • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to gather data and insight into the client’s behavior.
  2. Develop and Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs):
    • Create individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) based on assessment data, incorporating evidence-based practices.
    • Teach and model the implementation of BIPs to staff, families, and other caregivers.
    • Continuously monitor the effectiveness of BIPs and make data-driven adjustments as needed.
  3. Provide Supervision and Training:
    • Supervise and provide ongoing training to Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and other support staff.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations of RBTs and provide feedback for improvement.
    • Offer professional development opportunities to staff to ensure adherence to ethical and effective behavioral practices.
  4. Data Collection and Analysis:
    • Oversee the collection of data on client behaviors to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
    • Analyze trends in behavior and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure progress.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in compliance with company and legal requirements.
  5. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Communicate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to provide updates on progress and recommendations.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure consistent care and coordinated treatment strategies.
    • Serve as a resource for caregivers and staff in understanding behavioral principles and strategies.
  6. Ethical and Legal Compliance:
    • Adhere to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board’s (BACB) ethical guidelines and standards of practice.
    • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with legal regulations regarding client records and treatment.
  7. Research and Professional Development:
    • Stay current with research and advancements in the field of behavior analysis.
    • Attend conferences, workshops, and continuing education opportunities to maintain certification and enhance professional expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Certification: Board Certification in Behavior Analysis (BCBA), or eligibility to sit for the BCBA exam.
  • Experience: At least 0-2 years of experience in behavior analysis, ideally in a clinical, educational, or home-based setting.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of behavior analysis principles and techniques.
    • Experience with functional behavior assessments and development of behavior intervention plans.
    • Excellent communication, supervisory, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Knowledge of relevant legal and ethical standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
  • Knowledge of other therapeutic approaches or certifications (e.g., verbal behavior therapy, PECS, etc.).

Working Conditions:

  • Work can be performed in a variety of settings, including homes, schools, clinics, and community environments.
  • Some evening or weekend hours may be required based on client needs.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and assist clients as necessary (specific requirements will depend on client needs).
  • Ability to observe and interact with clients for extended periods.
